Private by design.

Exhibit processes your connected iPhone screen locally on your Mac. It never uploads your screen, screenshots, or recordings.

What Exhibit processes

Live screen frames stay in memory unless you choose to take a screenshot or begin a recording. Exhibit has no accounts or advertising, and no network upload of your content.

Your captures

  • Screenshots are saved to the folder you select. The default is Downloads.
  • Recordings are saved to Downloads.
  • Clipboard screenshots are placed only on your Mac clipboard and are not also saved to disk.

Permissions

macOS categorizes the connected-device capture API as Camera access. Exhibit uses that permission only to receive the iPhone screen feed and explicitly rejects Continuity Camera and other camera-only inputs.

Anonymous usage data

Exhibit sends anonymous usage events to PostHog so we can understand how the app is used and how often. Events cover launches, how long an iPhone is shown, which features you use (screenshots, recordings, phone frames, device selection) and where you triggered them from, and setup problems such as no iPhone being found.

Each event carries a random install ID, the app and macOS versions, and the iPhone model identifier and stream resolution. Events never include your screen content, device names, file names, folder paths, or personal information, and they are not linked to your identity or used for tracking.

You can turn this off at any time with Help > Share Anonymous Usage Data.

Diagnostics

Diagnostic logs are kept in memory for the current app session and are shared only when you explicitly copy them.

Policy changes

This policy is effective September 9, 2026. If Exhibit’s data practices change, this page will be updated before the change ships.
